The USS Constitution is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world.  Every year on July 4th, she goes out to Castle Island in Boston Harbor to fire a 21 gun salute to celebrate Independence day.  Thousands of people line the harbor, on boats and on land, to watch her underway.

There is a lottery most years to allow guests aboard during her underway and I won 2 tickets to be aboard her this year.  I took this photo of a sailor in the rigging of Old Ironsides during the underway.

I live in Boston with my family and work as a software product manager. Except for college and a few years after, I have lived in Boston my whole life. I love being on my bike and being the near the ocean. My favorite area of Boston is the waterfront and the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area.
