The Amateur Traveler talks to Carrie from cruisebuzz.net about a popular vacation spot just off the coast of California, Catalina Island. Catalina was popular with old time movie stars as a quick getaway from Southern California on their private yachts but can now be reached by regular ferry service. Some go to Catalina to tour Avalon is main city, to relax at its beaches or to try out its new zip line. Others go to Catalina’s back country of rugged hikes, private beaches reachable by sea kayak or a buffalo herd left over from filming a Zane Grey movie.
