Beignets, New Orleans – Photography Gone Bad – Daily Photo
by Chris Christensen ↓ Add commentscategories: usa travel

I am concentrating this week not on my best photographs but on ones where something went wrong.
I have always loved this picture of my daughter from New Orleans demonstrating what a bad parent that I am. We had just eaten beignets at Café du Monde in New Orleans which come in a bag full of powdered sugar. My little angel is finishing the bag of powdered sugar. I would love to tell you that this photo was staged.
So what is wrong with this photo? Did you notice that my little angel has a halo? I was not watching the background and apparently some trash can or something in the background was lined up behind her given her this ring over her head. If you don’t watch your backgrounds you will end up with people with poles coming out of their heads or maybe, like me, your angelic children will be shown for who they really are.

Ha ha, I didn’t even notice that halo until you pointed it out.
Somewhere in an old computer used for file storage is a photo I took of myself at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, in front of Kilauea (with active plume). I stood in front of it, stretched out my arm and did the point-click. Result? It looks like I have steam coming out of my ear. NOT the shot I was hoping for!
